Amirhossein holds a PhD in Electrical Engineering, specializing in Optical Telecommunications Systems, obtained in 2010 from Université Laval under the supervision of Prof. Leslie Ann Rusch.

Title of his thesis: Advanced numerical techniques for the design and optimization of optical links using nonlinear semiconductor optical amplifiers.

Since graduating, he has carved out an enviable place for himself in the international photonics community. His achievements overlap academia and industry.

In 2019, he became a Distinguished Member of the Technical Staff at Nokia Bell Labs one year after receiving the Business Excellence Award. He has had a major impact in the development of algorithms for digital signal processing in coherent sensing systems.

He has published over 150 papers, including 15 invited articles, as well as 3 single-author publications in the IEEE/Optica J. of Lightwave Technology. He is supervisor of more than 15 graduate student trainees. He has graduated five PhD students and is currently supervising two more.

He maintains close links with European universities. He has been the Nokia representative and team leader for several EU-funded projects in the field of quantum technologies.
