Professional Affiliations

Alain Chandonnet is a graduate of Université Laval, where he obtained his bachelor’s (1986), master’s and doctoral degrees in physics (1986-91), in the field of optics and lasers. His doctoral supervisor was Michel Piché. From 1995 to 1999, he also studied business administration.

Mr. Chandonnet began his career at the Institut national d’optique (INO) in 1990, first as a researcher, then as director of one of the activity sectors. In 1999, he joined EXFO’s management team. In 2000, he co-founded Teraxion with 4 other colleagues. He was President and CEO until 2009. In the fall of that year, he was named entrepreneur-in-residence at INO, and in 2011 founded the biophotonics company handyem.

In 2016, he joined Optel Medevon, a subsidiary of the Optel Group specializing in the medical field.

In October 2017, he returned to his roots at INO as CEO and member of the Board of Directors.
