This is huge news for Canadian and Quebec research and development ecosystems in artificial intelligence, quantum computing, and advanced photonics.
The Institut national d’optique (INO) and the Centre de recherche informatique de Montréal (CRIM) announce the creation of Luqia, an industrial innovation laboratory in artificial intelligence and photonics dedicated to developing and industrializing critical technologies for security, defense, and strategic sectors.
With a clear intention by Canada Economic Development (CED) to provide up to $52 million to support their activities, Luqia will have a solid foundation to offer a high-performance research, development, and pre-commercial prototyping environment that will accelerate innovation and the integration of key technologies in high value-added Canadian and Quebec companies in sectors such as health, manufacturing, defense, aerospace, and agri-food.
