Université de Sherbrooke

Since its creation, the Université de Sherbrooke has set itself apart. The research projects carried out at the university are driven by a desire to find solutions to current issues and to seek real benefits for the community.

Located in one of the most dynamic university towns outside the province’s major centers, Université de Sherbrooke boldly competes with major institutions. Over the years, it has been at the forefront of remarkable advances in research while remaining true to and grounded in its values: sustainable development; equity, diversity and inclusion; and ongoing collaboration with its community and partners.

Interdisciplinary Institute for Technological Innovation (3IT)

In the 7000 m2 building of 3IT, academic and industry scientists work together within a state-of-the-art infrastructure. All components of a complete innovation chain, from design to commercialization, are brought together under one roof. Unique in North America, these facilities offer access to highly specialized expertise and services to support and accelerate the innovations of the research community. The advanced research facilities, supported by highly qualified technical teams, consist of five platforms dedicated to a specific field of expertise: solar energy, mechanics, microtechnologies, nanotechnologies and robotics.

Institut Quantique

A major investment from the Canada First Research Excellence Fund in 2016 enabled the creation of the Institute Quantique (IQ), a research institute at the Université de Sherbrooke that focuses primarily on quantum science and technology. IQ brings together scientists specializing in quantum materials, quantum information, and quantum engineering to conduct high-quality fundamental research and develop the quantum technologies of the future. Our institute has a state-of-the-art experimental research and computational infrastructure managed by qualified technical and professional teams. We offer a dynamic research environment that includes summer schools attracting students from around the world as well as weekly seminars and annual workshops on quantum materials, quantum information, mesoscopic physics or numerical methods. Research at the Institute Quantique is performed in a collaborative setting reinforced by many well-established links with scientists from other countries.
